Internet Naming Co. is an ICANN-contracted Registry Operator and full-service TLD management agency. With 10 years of experience launching and operating Top Level Domains, we specialize in maximizing the value of these unique internet assets through sustainable growth initiatives and tailored marketing strategies.
Since 2013, our team has launched, operated, consulted for, and sold more than 40 gTLDs and ccTLDs. Our past TLD launches for other operators include .XYZ, .INC, and .CARS, and other notable projects include .LINK, .GAME, and .PHOTO.
Today, Internet Naming Co. manages approximately 20 TLDs that are carried by more than 200 registrars and resellers around the world, such as GoDaddy, Amazon, Namecheap, and Network Solutions. As an independent agency with no registrar or backend affiliation, we take pride in our ability to work with everyone in the domain industry - without competitive limitations or conflicts of interest - to ultimately advance internet naming.
Our story
Although Internet Naming Co. was only introduced in 2022, our story begins in 2014. Originally known as Uniregistry, and later Uni Naming & Registry, our company was a technological trailblazer consisting of a registry with nearly 30 TLDs, one of the fastest growing retail registrars in the world, an enterprising corporate registrar, a ubiquitous domain brokerage platform, and the most advanced backend system on the internet.
Several established industry players quickly saw the value in our innovations, leading to numerous high-profile acquisitions between 2020 and 2021. As a result, nearly every piece of technology and former member of our team now help millions of internet users every year who rely on these companies for their online presence.
Internet Naming Co. is now led by the company’s former Chief Growth Officer and industry veteran, Shayan Rostam. With a clean slate, Shayan has taken the company back to its roots with the mission of expanding internet accessibility with domain names as the gateway.
2014.
Uniregistry is born
Founded in 2014 by internet visionary Frank Schilling, Uniregistry was started with the intention of creating an innovative, intuitive, and easier way for users to connect on the internet.
Following the launch of its 25+ TLDs on its proprietary backend platform, Uniregistry opened a retail registrar, Uniregistry.com, a corporate registrar, BrandSight, as well as a domain name marketplace called Uni Market.
In February 2020, Uniregistry announced that its Uniregistry.com registrar, BrandSight registrar, and Uni Market, as well as the teams responsible for them, were being acquired by GoDaddy, the largest registrar in the world.
After the transaction, the company was rebranded to Uni Naming & Registry, or UNR. For the first time, the TLDs and backend services were at the forefront of the business.
Shayan Rostam was brought in as Chief Growth Officer to lead UNR through this new era. In just one year, Shayan grew the registry’s sales volume by 300% in order to maximize the portfolio’s value in preparation for an exit.
2020.
Uniregistry rebrands to UNR
In early 2021, UNR shocked the industry when it hosted a first-of-its-kind public auction to sell the rights to its TLDs. The event was widely recognized as a success after grossing more than $40 million USD.
Shortly after the TLD auctions, UNR sold its final technology platform, the backend registry system, to another publicly-traded registrar Tucows. As a testament to the people, a critical piece of the transaction was the veteran technical team that Tucows now leverages across all of their domain businesses.
2021.
UNR successfully exits
Shayan Rostam acquired UNR and its subsidiaries in 2022 to close the latest chapter in Frank Schilling’s remarkable story in the domain industry.
Reflecting its new direction as an independent registry operator and TLD management agency, the company was rebranded to Internet Naming Co. At the time of announcement, Internet Naming Co. managed 9 TLDs with approximately 350,000 domains under management.

Shayan Rostam
Shayan Rostam is the Principal of Internet Naming Co. (formerly known as Uni Naming & Registry) and a specialist in maximizing the value of Top Level Domains. He has developed one of the most impressive track records in the domain industry by launching, operating, consulting for, and selling more than 40 Top Level Domains since 2013.
Shayan was previously the Chief Growth Officer for Uni Naming & Registry (.LINK, .CLICK, .PHOTO, et al), and was one of the first employees at both XYZ (.XYZ, .CARS, .RENT, et al) as their Global Director, and Intercap Registry (.INC, .DEALER, .BOX) as their Chief Registry Officer.
Beyond internet technology, Shayan’s experience also extends into real estate development and mergers & acquisitions. By the age of 24, Shayan had overseen more than 200,000 square feet of office and R&D construction for Fox Development Corporation and the University of Illinois Research Park. Shayan also received a state grant by the Illinois EPA for his sustainable infrastructure proposal. In 2021, Shayan helped prepare a multi-billion dollar technology company to go public.
Shayan graduated from the University of Southern California and resides in Manhattan Beach.
